Wednesday 21st March 2012 - Feature Races Preview

I've decided to do this blog post in text format, to try and juggle between the different formats to keep everyone happy!

Wednesday is a big night at Swindon, with a Monkey 509er Final and an Owners Bonus series final, as well as a couple of other open races. Here's my take on these key races:

Owners Bonus Final
My Pick: Klockwork Kiki

This £500 to the winner final is a very wide open contest, and I think its a 3/1 the field job when you look at it objectively, however for a bit of value I'm going for Klockwork Kiki. Alan McDowell's bitch is on the comeback trail after being off for some time, and has found herself posting two 3rds in A7 grade recently. With the draw for the inside runners being very tricky, with Banki Moon in particular moving left, I think Kiki can get a clear run round the outside. On her day, she's alot better than these, however you have to allow for that time off. Ark At Ee will also run a big race in 6.

The William & Peter King Standard
My Pick: Hedsor Arthur

In fairness this isn't exactly the hottest open race you'll ever see, and I think Hedsor Arthur can take full advantage of this. He recently won the 480m Easter Bunny competition at his home track of Sittingbourne, and has recently posted an impressive 29.07 A1 run round there. Sittingbourne and Swindon 480m runs are a very good correlation (something to keep in the book!). By the looks of it he'll be coming off the pace, and I can see the likes of Glenbane Air and Bealady Rover setting good pace first, with him running on strongly. Don't write off Seek The Cash in 6, however. Matt Dartnall's dog run very well in an A1 a couple of weeks ago, but struggled a 509 heat last week.

The William & Peter King 509er
My Pick: Young Sid (NAP)

Admittedly he's going to be a short price in this, but Young Sid is hands down the classiest dog in this race. A Scottish Derby finalist, Sid has had quite a long spell off with injury, but has come back well, producing a very good Romford 575m run last time out. This 509 trip will be right up his street, and the draw has worked out really well for him aswell. You'd be filling the bookies in at 1/2 about this lad, he's a seriously good thing in this race. Silverton Blaze could be a big price forecast link.

The Swindon Monkey 509er Final
My Pick: Farloe Orion (NB)

After a shorty in the last race, I thought I'd offer a spot of value for my NB in Farloe Orion. Merv Jeans' runner looks to be, arguably, the best draw dog in this race, and ran very well last week. He's showing a little kick of early nowadays, which could see him going round 2nd or 3rd. I should think he'll be roughly the same price as last week (5/1), and that would be worth taking. Sawpit Sensation is the obvious choice to win the race, but looks sure to go off near odds in in this, and with World Charm out in 5, I don't think the dog is guaranteed a clear run.
